Oops! My Screw Up On Google Analytics!!!!
Hi Guys,
Just a quick update for you guys.
I was going to post updates on my traffics generations statistics for the past one week when i realised my google analtyics for my traffics statistics not showing any improvement. My last count was 215 visits and as at 7 Jan 2009 still 215 visits. That can’t be true. I reckon with the comments that i have for my blog, at the very least it touches a sum of 300 visits.
So, sitting there pondering and figuring it by myself, what is going on here? I didn’t touch the settings, the php or anything….Then it struck me that i have change the theme for my blog on the first day of 2009. You know new year, new theme. Everything must be new.
Guess what? The UA code was not in the footer.php. I have inserted back the UA account code and will check in a couple of hours to see it is working or not? Well, there goes my traffics statistics for the past one week. What a screw up on my part. I thought i don’t have to redo the UA code if i change the theme. Silly of me.
My advice to those who want to change the theme of your blog, make sure you recheck the UA account code for your google analytics.
I will update the stats another time once my google analytics is up and running.
Till then…….

A very good tip, I am glad it hapenned to you rather than me, and even more glad that you were able to sort it out

Hiya Jeffrey,
I just read your post, then realized I too had changed my theme after installing google analytics, then I went to my GA account to check the stats dreading that I had stuffed up too.
Seems that my stats look fine as they are increasing, then I realized I added the wp plug in for google analytics, if you want to see how to do it I found a vid on youtube and put it on my blog http://taradipalma.com/marketing-with-alex-jeffreys/marketing-with-alex-module-two you can watch it, using the plug in might save you time, instead of adding the code each time you change your theme
Thanks for posting your comments on my blog
I finished the tutorial on “how to add an image to a wordpress sidebar” if you haven’t seen it yet you can get it here http://www.taradipalma.com/freebies/wordpress.pdf if you get stuck then gimme a shout.
Hopefully it will clear any confusion
I have just added you to my blogroll, would you please add me to yours
if you are on twitter please add me myid is http://www.twitter.com/taradipalma
Take Care
Tara
Hi Tara,
Thanks for dropping by. I have check out the vid on youtube and i found it is useful. So, next time i decided to change my theme again, i won’t have to worry about the google analytics. I lost a week of traffics just because i screw up the google analytics.
Thank you again.
I will be checking on the video of adding image to my blog later when i am free. I am in the midst of writing my new post and i am giving priority to finish the post first.
Talk soon.
Jeffrey
Truly silly.. It happened to me also. When I relaunched the site with new theme, there were some pages which were not showing the code. Even I was in trouble. N because of that my traffic went down…
In this case both of us have done something silly..:)
