WWW.Dean Holland.Com Makeover, Reply Comments, Traffic Tornado And The Video Competition Is On…..

Hi Guys,

How are you guys doing?

Thanks for checking out my squidoo lens and give your valuable ideas and tips to a newbie like me. My new squidoo len is at #1677 in ranking and #15875 overall. It is driving a lot of traffics to my blog. Anyway,I will tweak about my lens real soon. At the moment, I am so busy with writing content on my blog, learning how to create videos and traffics.

I want to start of by congratulating Jim Gallagher on winning the $1,000.00 competition. I have left him a messge at twitter and his blog. You must check out some of his brilliant ideas of generating traffics to his blog. I have used some of his ideas and it worked. Go to his blog at http://kotobot.com and pick up some ideas you like and see how it goes.

I have fixed my Google analytics and it’s working now. My blog visits at the present is almost 300. If not for the screw up, i am sure my blog would have 500 visitors by now. This let me to think, how am i going to generate more traffics? You see, without traffic, your blog is nothing but a couple of dots in cyberspace.

I have said it before and i will say it again. Use twitter to fullest effect. Look at Gary Simpson twitter at www.twitter.com/TheGazzMan. He is engaging people to reply his message/reply with his humours. The way he ask questions is really to behold. I have no doubt his twitter followers will drive in with ten of thousands of followers soon. You see, people will warm to you and only then they will check out your blog, freebies or PPP.

The other method i’m using to fullest effect is to update  a message or reply to the online gurus/experts e.g Alex Jeffreys (my mentor) and put back a link to my blog. If you don’t know what to write, ask him what are doing at the moment or ask him any questions. Of course, your questions must be relevant or catchy enough to get his attention. What you have done is  your reply will be seen by his followers and whoailah, they will check out your blog. For example, I saw the other day Jim Gallager (Kotobot.com) update a message to Andrew Fox, Hey Foxy, do your blog have fangs?  That’s funny.  Guess what? His follower will be able to see that and you will have referral traffic to your blog. Maria Andros, Alex Jeffreys, Mike Filsaime, Andrew Fox and even Britney Spears is on the twitter just to name a few. Sounds good. Then, I suggest you join the bandwagon now if you have not.

One of my mega plan this year is to oil rigging hopping to fellow students of Alex Jeffreys and to other blogs outside of the students circle at least  an hour a day. I have been doing that since the start of the year and been learning a lot with how they put their comments.

I have been disturb by some of the comments and see they haven’t really get the ideas that Alex Jeffreys mention in his module. Do you really like  people write something like - nice blog, awesome, fantastic or even good in their comments to your blog. They can but I reckon you will sense they are not sincere in their action or just do it for the sake of doing it. What a waste of time and defeat the purpose of commenting on people’s blog.

Read me loud. What you want to do is please comment to add value information to owner’s blog and the owner will know you really benefit, both parties benefit sharing with each other or learning something from his blog. This is what happen to Alex Jeffreys. If you remember what he said in one his Module, he commented to a blog post and spotted by one of the top guru. His comments added value to the blog owner and he got a JV offer from the guru.

The other is please don’t do this. Copy and Paste type. Don’t think people won’t know about it. It’s really a cheap trick to do. I remember Gary also mentioned about it somewhere but can’t remember where was it. He don’t reply to this type of comments and even delete this kind of comments from his blog. I think this is becoming the norm to some of the students putting their comments to  people blogs with this type of comments and hoping to get people to check back their blog. Sorry folks. It ain’t gonna happen.

The only reason I think readers  use copy and paste type comments is they are in the hurry or time saving. It’s a hassle for them. They got a time frame to put comment on owner’s blog and they called it their oil rigging hassle hoppings hoping traffics will bounce back to their blog. My experience will tell me that won’t happen. What I suggest is to put one value added comment on owner’s blog rather than putting 1000 no values  copy and paste comments. That’s  more productive in my opinion. I for once will definetely reply the one value comment than the 1000 no values.

So start treating putting value comments to owner’s blog and you will be rewarded. Trust me on this. Gary will attest to this. Do check out Gary Simpson at http://motivationselfesteem.com/talk and learn from this no nonsense cool guy. Check out how he write and reply comments. He give credit to me in one of his post when I wrote a reply comment in one his post that struck a chord in him. Man, I learned so much from him and i am still learning from this master.

As you know by now Mr Dean Holland wants to shake up his blog and decided to invest back the money he earns (about $3,300.00 if my facts is correct) to get a new theme and some other features. He ask for feedbacks and I left him one on his blog the other day advice him not do blow it with the hard earn money. This is a very interesting point for discussion. Now the reason I wanted to blog about it is better to invest back to other avenues of business than some nice graphic or sophisticated theme. You can earn real money with a simple and nice blog. People will follow your blog if your blog is super packed with value informations that they want and apply. I will reinforce by giving you some of the blogs to check out for yourself and see the simplicitic and normal looking blog that making them huge moneys.

If you want to change or customised your blog, do check out other blogs and model your blog according to the blog you want to follow. For example you want to monetize your blog by advertising or adsense, then I suggest you check out Tommy-Mclaughlin blog.

So, the choice is yours but do consider carefully and take your time to survey what you want to achieve with your blog.

I just checked on Dean Holland blog and he decided to stick with his current blog at the moment. Great on you.

As you know by now, the video competition is going on and there are two categories. Whoever student is driving the most traffic to the video will be judged as the winner. The price is $1,500.00.

Alex is being very generous here. He will be giving away another $1,500.00 the student who come up with the most creative and jam packed content video.

Personally, I have never made a video before so this a very big challenge out of my comfort zone. Never to back down from a challenge, I have been asking some of the students on how to and I must recommend Tara Dipalma to those who don’t have a clue about video. If you want to a learn thing or two about video then check her out.

Some of the students have already put their video to youtube and I have been very impress with one particular by one of the student. His name is JT Martin. I decided to embed his video below for those who want to learn how to put a video to your blog? Super delivery and great content.

I have an idea or two what to create for my video and let you know when I made my decision later on.

Okay, as i said just now, the following video by JT Martin.

  3. Hi Jeffrey,
This is a really heart-felt blog with lots of great advice. Thanks for the tips. I know what you mean about cut and paste comments and just stopping by to say hi. I want to visit everyone but also make some worth while comments. Our whole goal is to help each other become a success so constructive criticism and helpful advice is definitely welcome.

I think this is why it is taking me so long to visit everyone. I don’t want to leave generic comments so I sit and read the posts, get to know the person, then leave a comment. Sometimes, because I am such a newbie, I don’t feel like I can add much because everyone seems to know so much more than me about being online and following all the strategies Alex provides us with. Maybe when we drift off more into our own niches it will be easier for me to add comments. I guess we’ll see.

    Thanks again Jeff!
    Sarah

  4. HI Sarah,

Thanks for dropping by. Your sincerity and dedication will carry you through from a newbie to a very successful online marketer. I know from a fact it is to keep on ploughing and ploughing your business. It will take time but the satisfaction that you gain when your business takes off will worth the effort.

Don’t feel that a newbie can’t contribute to this wonderful community of Alex students. Each and everyone of us have our own skills and experience that we can learn from each other.

    Good luck to you.

    Talk soon.

  5. Hi Jeffrey,

What a really, really informative post. And you point to so many great references. I’ve already popped over to Tara’s site and grabbed her e-book on video editing with Windows Movie Maker. I didn’t use this when I made my competition video but I will read it to see if it offers any ideas about how to improve for my next time. BTW, I put a post up today with everyone’s competition videos altogether in one place in the interests of fairness so they all have a chance of equal exposure.

Hey and thanks for the mention in your post. Much appreciated.

And also thanks for the interaction on Twitter. It really works that site doesn’t it. Amazing what you can get into 140 characters when you try, LOL! Re. your last twitter message to me, re. the outsourcing of your video. I’m not sure what you have in mind, but email me if you need to.

    Keep up the great posts

    Garry Parkes,

  6. Hi Jeffrey, this is my first visit to your site in my long journey to see all of Alex’s students blogs. I don’t just want to say Hi though, I do think your post was very good, quite long, but good.
I agree also that people who drop by and cut and paste comments do not really deserve a reply. It does take a long time to get round, but speed is not really the point, its developing perhaps an interaction with whoever’s blog you visit. I am going to check up Tara Dipalma because I am very much interested in video making at the moment, I am enjoying every minute. If you have the time, I would be pleased if you could visit my site and see my competition video and give me your opinion. I know it will be an honest one. Thanks in anticipation.
    Paull

  7. Hi Paull, It’s been quite a while you drop by. I am glad you give my post the thumbs up.

I agreed with you that developing a interaction with the blog’s owner that really counts and it takes time to build a relationship. You get to know him by learning and sharing with each other.

I will be checking on your video competition soon and give my take.

    Keep in touch always.

    Jeffrey

  8. Hi Garry,

Thanks for the visit and nice comments. I know it was a long informative post because I got so much information I just want to share with you guys.

Aha, we both agreed that Twitter is an amazing tool to build relationship with only 140 words and you can share anything or any topics. One word of advice to anyone reading this comment. Do not try to sell anything until you build a strong relationship with anyone. Just engage small talks and you are on your way to building an amazing journey and a beautiful relationship.

    Thanks again.

    Keep in touch often.

    Jeffrey
